Thunchan Memorial Govt.college started in the year 1980 to promote higher education in Malappuram district particularly in Tirur Taluk. The college is situated at Vakkad in the Vettam Gramapanchayath by the side of Tirur –Kuttayi road at a distance of 9 kms away from Tirur railway station and bus stand.The department of Arabic has started in the very inception of the college in the year 1980.More than 150 students and 9 teachers are in the department. Our students have placed themselves as Lecturers, Teachers, and a few are working abroad in various levels. Dr. Sainuddeen P.T is the Head of the Department..

    Internet facilities for Staff & Students: Staffroom of The Department has been provided with the internet facility, Staff usually utilize this facility. Students can access internetfromLAN Lab or from the department. Process for Wi-Fi connectivity is on progress.

    Arab sat & Language Lab The department also has anARABSAT facility which provides access to latest developments in Arab worldthrough more than 40 channels from Arab World.Our students acquire language skills through watching channel programmes. We propose to uplift this programme into the higher position like video conference, class rooms etc. In addition to this facility the Department has a Computer Lab with 10 desk top computers some of them has internet connectivity.
